SHINE Missionaries from Christ The Good Shepherd, St. Martha's, St. Mary's and St Helens.
Four parishes came together the week of June 6-11 to serve parishioners and local service organizations in Spring TX. They were housed at Christ The good Shepherd where they slept on air mattresses in classroom floors and had programming in the Family Life Center. The theme for the week was FEARLESS with the message of "being fearless in standing up for our beliefs but also to fear less when it comes to the things that scare us and tear us away from God". It was an amazing week for everyone and a blessing for the SHINE team. Without the support of Fr. James Burkhart, the CGS Office of Youth Evangelization and the awesome staff, SHINE wouldn't have been able to happen.
"For many of you that didn't know, SHINE has been on "life-support" since the beginning of the pandemic and barely "breathing". It has been a difficult twenty nine months and it was just a matter of time before the ministry died. Like so many other ministries, it has struggled to stay alive. And just as the decision was made prior to this summer's mission week, that this would probably be the last summer of SHINE, God made it very clear that the ministry still had a lot of life in it. Thanks to the love and support of the four parishes that came, SHINE will continue. So we say THANK YOU to Christ The Good Shepherd, St Martha's, St Mary's and St Helen's for breathing life back into the ministry. As we prepare for 2023 we ask for your prayers and that you help keep the ministry alive by considering coming to a SHINE week or maybe even hosting a deanery wide mission week next summer. Thank you in advance"
